MoreFred has been brought up in a horticultural environment since day one.
Having worked on the family fruit and veg farm located in the heart of Cheshire, he studied horticulture at Reaseheath College and travelled the world, extending his knowledge to all aspects of horticulture. He can certainly provide you with a highly educated analysis of your lawn.
Greensleeves equipment and products are second to none and they are always looking at new innovative ways to provide the best lawn care service.
Fred has a wealth of knowledge on all issues surrounding lawn care and will be happy to provide you with a free no-obligation quotation for future improvement and discuss the current condition of your lawn.
Mow little and often. Regular cutting will encourage new growth, reduce the risk of fungal infection and keep the lawn looking neat and tidy! Cutting the grass too short will put the plant under unnecessary stress and in dry periods cause the plant to dry out more quickly and go brown.
Don’t let it dry out too much. During dry periods, if you use a sprinkler 2-3 times a week for a few hours at a time it will keep the lawn looking its best. Remember, a good soak 2-3 times a week is always better than a light sprinkling every day!
Bear in mind that even ‘normal’ use of a lawn leads to surface compaction. For a professional lawn, hollow tine aeration treatment is recommended every one or two years.
Moss is a sign that something is wrong with your lawn. Too often, gardeners attempt to kill moss in lawns without tackling the problem that actually causes it. Generally, lawns that are well maintained – which includes being well-fed, cut properly, scarified, aerated and not allowed to develop thatch – will not suffer from moss problems as much as a lawn that is just fed and cut.
