After a career spanning 29 years with Post Office Ltd – starting as a counter clerk through to managing some of the larger branches in South London, I finally became an area manager covering parts of the South East. However, in 2010, I was offered redundancy and I thought the time was right to take stock and explore the possibility of working for myself. I had a light bulb moment when visiting friends one weekend and remarking on how lush their lawn was… they said they had a lawn care company that came in regularly to treat it.

As working outside was something I had always enjoyed, I set about researching the possibilities of this becoming a new career path. It would enable me to retrain and develop my existing skills gained over the years, through working in my own garden. After researching lawn care, Greensleeves stood out as a company that shared the same values of customer care that had been instilled in me throughout my working life.

I wanted to work outside.
