Having worked in various desk jobs I felt I needed a change and the Greensleeves style seems to fit me very comfortably. I enjoy a good lawn and enjoy giving a service to my customers. I’m happy to say that I have a lot of my customers I now regard as friends.
I have helped to transform a lot of neglected lawns. When I visit new customers I’m regularly confronted with the phrase “take a look at my lawn but I doubt you’ll not be able to do anything with it”. However after a series of treatments they seem more than pleased with the results and readily recommend our services to their friends.
When I offer advise on lawn’s to customers it’s keep it simple. Lawn care isn’t rocket science. However it also isn’t an overnight experience. I work in conjunction with customers not instead of them.
So do not cut grass too short. Mow little and often.
Because you are regularly cutting off the leaves of the grass plants the lawn has to be helped by feeding.
Water when the lawn needs it. Don’t let it dry out too much it will stress out and suffer.
Don’t let weeds compete with the grass in your lawn, they will win.
Bear in mind that even ‘normal’ use of a lawn, leads to surface compaction. For a first class lawn occasional aeration is necessary.
Moss is a sign that something is basically wrong with your lawn. Too often, gardeners attempt to kill moss in lawns without tackling the problem that actually causes it.
Generally, lawns that are well maintained - which includes being well fed, cut properly, scarified, aerated and not allowed to develop thatch – will not suffer from moss problems.
A lawn is an extension of the home and says a lot about you and your house. Enjoy it!
